ಅರ್ಥ: 'ಅನ್ತರ್' ಇತ್ಯಸ್ಮಾತ್ ಉತ್ತರಸ್ಯ 'ಹನ್' ಧಾತೋಃ ನಕಾರಸ್ಯ ತದೈವ ಣತ್ವಂ ಭವತಿ ಯದಾ ನಕಾರಾತ್ ಪೂರ್ವಂ ಹ್ರಸ್ವಃ ಅಕಾರಃ ವಿದ್ಯತೇ । ಪರನ್ತು ನಿರ್ಮಿತೇನ ಶಬ್ದೇನ ದೇಶಸ್ಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಃ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಃ ಅಸ್ತಿ ಚೇತ್ ಣತ್ವಂ ನ ವಿಧೀಯತೇ ।
Meaning: The नकार of हन् is converted to णकार when this word follows the word 'अन्तर्' and when this नकार is preceded by a ह्रस्व अकार. But this णत्व does not happen if the resultant word indicates the name of a place.
