ಅರ್ಥ: 'ಅನ್ತರ್' ಶಬ್ದಾತ್ ಪರಃ ವಿದ್ಯಮಾನಸ್ಯ 'ಅಯನ' ಶಬ್ದಸ್ಯ ನಕಾರಸ್ಯ ಣಕಾರಾದೇಶಃ ವಿಧೀಯತೇ । ಪರನ್ತು ನಿರ್ಮಿತೇನ ಶಬ್ದೇನ ದೇಶಸ್ಯ ನಾಮ್ನಃ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಃ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಃ ಅಸ್ತಿ ಚೇತ್ ಏತಾದೃಶಮ್ ಣತ್ವಂ ನ ಭವತಿ ।
Meaning: The नकार of अयन is converted to णकार when this word follows the word 'अन्तर्'. But this णत्व does not happen if the resultant word indicates the name of a place.
