ಅದಾದಿಗಣ (adādi-gaṇa — second conjugation class)

ಅರ್ಥ: ಧಾತುಗಳ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಗಣ — अद् ("ತಿನ್ನು") ಧಾತುವಿನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ.
Meaning: The second verb class, named after its representative root अद् ("to eat").

ಅದಾದಿಗಣದ ಧಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ವಿಕರಣ ಸೇರದೆ, ಪ್ರತ್ಯಯ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಧಾತುವಿಗೆ ಸೇರುತ್ತದೆ (ಉದಾ: अस् → अस् + ति → अस्ति). ಇದರಿಂದ ಈ ಗಣದ ರೂಪಗಳು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಚಿಕ್ಕದಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ, ಆದರೆ ಅನಿಯಮಿತ ಸಂಧಿ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚು.

Adādi-class roots take no vikaraṇa — the ending attaches directly to the root (e.g. as → as + ti → asti). Forms are often short but show more irregular sandhi than other classes.

ಉದಾಹರಣೆ: ಅಸಿ (12.10) — ಧಾತು ಅಸ್ (as, "ಇರು") ಇಂದ ಅದಾದಿಗಣದ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ರೂಪ.
