ಅವ್ಯಯ (avyaya — indeclinable)

ಅರ್ಥ: ಲಿಂಗ, ವಚನ, ವಿಭಕ್ತಿಗನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ರೂಪ ಬದಲಾಗದ ಪದ.
Meaning: A word that never changes form regardless of gender, number, or case.

ಈ ವರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರುವುದು: ಚ/ಎವ/ಹಿ ಮುಂತಾದ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಪದಗಳು, ಕ್ರಿಯಾವಿಶೇಷಣಗಳು, ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ತ್ವಾ/ತುಮುನ್ ಕೃದಂತಗಳಂತಹ ಕೆಲವು ಕ್ರಿಯಾಪದ ರೂಪಗಳೂ ಸೇರಿವೆ. ಗೀತೆಯ ಅತಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಪದಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವು ಅವ್ಯಯಗಳೇ.

This class includes small particles like ca/eva/hi, adverbs, and even some verbal derivatives such as ಕ್ತ್ವಾ/ತುಮುನ್ participles. Many of the Gita's most frequent words are indeclinables.

ಉದಾಹರಣೆ: ಅತೀವ (12.20) — ಅತಿ + ಇವ — ಅವ್ಯಯ, "ಅತ್ಯಂತ" — ಯಾವ ವಿಭಕ್ತಿ/ಲಿಂಗ/ವಚನದಲ್ಲೂ ಇದೇ ರೂಪ.
Example: ಅತೀವ (12.20) — ati- + iva — indeclinable, "exceedingly" — the same form in every case, gender, and number.
