ಸಂಖ್ಯಾ (saṅkhyā — numeral)

ಅರ್ಥ: ಎಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುವ ಪದ (ಒಂದು, ಎರಡು, ಹತ್ತು ಮುಂತಾದವು).
Meaning: A word denoting a count/number (one, two, ten, etc.).

ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಗಳು (ಏಕ, ದ್ವಿ, ತ್ರಿ...) ವಿಶೇಷಣದಂತೆ ಲಿಂಗ-ವಚನಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ರೂಪ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತವೆ; "ಪಂಚ", "ದಶ" ಮುಂತಾದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಗಳು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಬಹುವಚನ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಳಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.

Small numbers (eka, dvi, tri...) inflect for gender/number like an adjective; larger numbers like pañca, daśa are typically used in the plural.

ಉದಾಹರಣೆ: ಪಂಚ (13.6) — "ಐದು" — ಇಂದ್ರಿಯಗೋಚರಗಳ ಎಣಿಕೆ.
Example: ಪಂಚ (13.6) — "five" — counting the objects of the senses.
