ಪರಸ್ಮೈಪದ (parasmaipada — "for another")

ಅರ್ಥ: ಕ್ರಿಯೆಯ ಫಲ ಬೇರೆಯವರಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ಭಾವನೆಯ ಪದ (ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತರಿ ಪ್ರಯೋಗ).
Meaning: One of the two verbal "voices" (pada) — literally "the word for another."

ಪರಸ್ಮೈಪದ ಮತ್ತು ಆತ್ಮನೇಪದ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತ ಧಾತುಗಳ ಎರಡು ಪದಗಳು (voice ಗಳಲ್ಲ, ಆಂಗ್ಲ 'voice' ಪದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸವಿದೆ): ಪರಸ್ಮೈಪದ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಯ ಫಲ ಕರ್ತೃವಿನ ಹೊರತಾಗಿ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಸಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ಭಾವ ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ; ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಧಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಇದೊಂದೇ ಪದ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ.

Parasmaipada and ಆತ್ಮನೇಪದ are the two "pada" (voices, in a looser sense than the English term) a Sanskrit root can take: parasmaipada implies the fruit of the action goes to someone other than the agent. Most roots only ever take one of the two.
