ಭ್ವಾದಿಗಣ (bhvādi-gaṇa — first conjugation class)

ಅರ್ಥ: ಧಾತುಗಳ ಹತ್ತು ಗಣಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲನೆಯದು — भू ("ಆಗು") ಧಾತುವಿನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ.
Meaning: The first of the ten traditional verb classes (gaṇa), named after its representative root भू ("to be/become").

ಭ್ವಾದಿಗಣದ ಧಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ವರ್ತಮಾನಾದಿ ಲಕಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಧಾತುವಿನ ಕೊನೆಯ ಸ್ವರಕ್ಕೆ ಗುಣ ಬಂದು "अ" ವಿಕರಣ ಸೇರುತ್ತದೆ (ಉದಾ: भू → भव + अति → भवति). ಇದು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಧಾತುಗಳಿರುವ ಗಣ.

Bhvādi-class roots take guṇa of the final vowel plus the "a" vikaraṇa in the present stem (e.g. bhū → bhav + a-ti → bhavati). This is the largest of the ten classes by far.

ಉದಾಹರಣೆ: ಅಭವತ್ (1.13) — ಧಾತು ಭೂ (bhū, "ಆಗು") ಇಂದ ಭ್ವಾದಿಗಣದ ಲಙ್ ರೂಪ.
