ವಿಧಿಲಿಙ್ (vidhiliṅ — optative/potential)

ಅರ್ಥ: "ಆಗಬಹುದು/ಆಗಬೇಕು" ಎಂಬ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ, ಅಪೇಕ್ಷೆ, ಅಥವಾ ವಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುವ ಭಾವ.
Meaning: The optative mood — possibility, wish, or prescription ("might/should").

ಆಜ್ಞಾರ್ಥಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೃದುವಾದ, ಪರೋಕ್ಷ ಸಲಹೆ ಅಥವಾ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿನ "would/might/should" ಗೆ ಹತ್ತಿರ.

Softer and more indirect than the imperative — closer to English "would/might/should."

ಉದಾಹರಣೆ: ಆಶ್ರಯೇತ್ (1.36) — ಪ್ರಥಮಪುರುಷ ಏಕವಚನ — "(ಪಾಪ) ಆವರಿಸೀತು", ಒಂದು ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ.
Example: ಆಶ್ರಯೇತ್ (1.36) — 3rd person singular — "(sin) would befall (us)," a cautionary possibility.
