ಯೋತ್ಸ್ಯಮಾನಾನವೇಕ್ಷೇಽಹಂ ಯೇ ಏತೇಽತ್ರ ಸಮಾಗತಾಃ ।
ಧಾರ್ತರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಸ್ಯ ದುರ್ಬುದ್ಧೇರ್ಯುದ್ಧೇ ಪ್ರಿಯಚಿಕೀರ್ಷವಃ ॥ ೧-೨೩॥

ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ
ಅರ್ಜುನನು ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನನ್ನು "ದುರ್ಬುದ್ಧಿಯುಳ್ಳವನು" ಎಂದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಟೀಕಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ - ಇದು ಅವನ ನೈತಿಕ ನಿಲುವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೂ ಅವನಿಗಾಗಿ ಹೋರಾಡಲು ಬಂದವರನ್ನು ನೋಡುವ ಅರ್ಜುನನ ಬಯಕೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರುವ ಅವನ ಆಳವಾದ ಸಂದಿಗ್ಧತೆಗೆ ವೇದಿಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Commentary
Arjuna openly criticizes Duryodhana as "evil-minded," revealing his moral stance. Yet his wish to see those who have come to fight for Duryodhana's sake sets the stage for the deep dilemma that follows.
