ಜ್ಞೇಯಂ ಯತ್ತತ್ಪ್ರವಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ಯಜ್ಜ್ಞಾತ್ವಾಮೃತಮಶ್ನುತೇ
ಅನಾದಿಮತ್ ಪರಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಸತ್ತನ್ನಾಸದ್ಉಚ್ಯತೇ ॥ ೧೩-೧೩॥

ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ

ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಇಲ್ಲಿಂದ (ಶ್ಲೋಕ ೧೩-೧೮) ಜ್ಞೇಯದ (ಜ್ಞೇಯಂ) - ಅಂದರೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮದ (ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ) - ಸ್ವರೂಪವನ್ನು ವಿವರಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದು (ಜ್ಞಾತ್ವಾ) ಅಮೃತತ್ವವನ್ನು (ಅಮೃತಂ) ಹೊಂದಬಹುದು (ಅಶ್ನುತೇ). ಬ್ರಹ್ಮವು ಆದಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ್ದು (ಅನಾದಿಮತ್), ಪರಮ (ಪರಂ) - ಮತ್ತು ಇದನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ತರ್ಕದ "ಇರುವಿಕೆ/ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಿಕೆ" (ಸತ್/ಅಸತ್) ಎಂಬ ದ್ವಂದ್ವಗಳಿಂದ ವಿವರಿಸಲಾಗದು - ಇದು ಲೌಕಿಕ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವದ ವರ್ಗಗಳನ್ನು ಮೀರಿದ್ದು ಎಂಬ ಆಳವಾದ ತಾತ್ವಿಕ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದನೆ.

Commentary

Krishna now turns to describing the jñeya — the object of knowledge, i.e., Brahman (verses 13–18). It is beginningless and supreme, transcending the categories of "existent" and "non-existent" that ordinary logic applies to worldly things — a profound philosophical claim that Brahman exceeds all conventional categories of being.
