ಯಥಾ ಸರ್ವಗತಂ ಸೌಕ್ಷ್ಮ್ಯಾದ್ಆಕಾಶಂ ನೋಪಲಿಪ್ಯತೇ ।

ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನ
ಆತ್ಮದ (ಆತ್ಮಾ) ಅಲಿಪ್ತ ಸ್ವಭಾವಕ್ಕೆ ಒಂದು ಸುಂದರ ಉಪಮೆ - ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸಿರುವ (ಸರ್ವಗತಂ) ಆಕಾಶವು (ಆಕಾಶಂ) ತನ್ನ ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮತೆಯ ಕಾರಣ (ಸೌಕ್ಷ್ಮ್ಯಾತ್) ಯಾವುದರಿಂದಲೂ ಕಳಂಕಿತವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ (ಉಪಲಿಪ್ಯತೇ) - ಹೊಗೆ, ಧೂಳು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡರೂ ಆಕಾಶವು ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ಮಲಿನವಾಗದಂತೆ. ಅದೇ ರೀತಿ, ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ (ಸರ್ವತ್ರ ಅವಸ್ಥಿತಃ) ಆತ್ಮವೂ ದೇಹದ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳಿಂದ ಎಂದೂ ಕಳಂಕಿತವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

Commentary
A vivid analogy for the untouched self: just as the all-pervading sky, being so subtle, is never stained by anything within it (like smoke or dust), so too the Self, though present throughout the body, remains forever untainted by the body's actions.
